Three friends in Amsterdam, on the way to an event, and the handles of a cheap tote snapped. One of them knotted the two ends into a single strap and wore it across his body. It stayed put, it kept his hands free, and it looked better than the bag had before it broke.
The stripe through the Ø is that strap.
Underneath the broken handle sat the bigger thing: everyone owns a pile of tote bags collected over the years, and not one of them is built for a real day. A crossbody tote did not exist, and neither did a single bag good enough to replace the pile.
Every bag we make has to hold a whole day, from the commute to whatever you do after work. Otherwise it is just another bag on the pile. That is the brief, and it decides everything from the strap length to where the laptop goes.
